The BRIT Awards Manchester era continues. The BRIT Awards 2027 will take place on Saturday 27 February 2027 at Co-op Live, the second year in a row the ceremony has been held in the city after almost five decades in London. The night will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX, and it celebrates 50 years since the first BRIT Awards was televised in 1977.

This post sets out what is confirmed so far, why the show moved north, what the first Manchester ceremony in February 2026 delivered on screen, online and around the city, and what that means for music talent, creators and brands planning content around the night. Every figure comes from a named source, listed at the foot of the page, and we say clearly what has not been announced yet.

When and where the BRIT Awards 2027 take place

When and where the BRIT Awards 2027 take place

The BRIT Awards 2027 will be held on Saturday 27 February 2027 at Co-op Live in Manchester, according to Official Charts. It is the second year in a row at the arena, after the 2026 ceremony became the first in the show's history to be held outside London.

The show will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX in a prime-time weekend slot. The 2027 ceremony also celebrates 50 years since the very first BRIT Awards was televised, back in 1977.

Who is running the 2027 show

Stacey Tang, Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK, returns as chair of the BRIT Committee and will oversee all aspects of the 2027 show, including its creative direction. The committee is made up of representatives from major and independent UK record labels, BRITs TV and the BPI, the body that represents the UK recorded music industry and runs the awards.

"It's a real privilege to return as Chair and to be back in Manchester for a second year," Tang said when the date was announced.

What has not been announced yet

As this goes up in October 2026, a few things are still to come:

  • Tickets Official Charts reported that ticket details had not been announced. Co-op Live's event page lists the show at 8pm on 27 February with a waiting list and premium ticket options, but no general on-sale date or prices

  • Host No host for 2027 has been named. Jack Whitehall hosted in 2026, his sixth time in the role

  • Nominations The nominations announcement has not been dated in the sources we checked

We will only treat these as confirmed once the BRITs or the venue publish them.

Why the BRIT Awards moved to Manchester

Why the BRIT Awards moved to Manchester

The move was announced on 9 June 2025. The BPI agreed a two-year deal to hold the 2026 and 2027 ceremonies at Co-op Live, ending close to five decades in the capital. On the same day, a three-year sponsorship role for Sony Music UK was announced.

The move followed the 2025 Mercury Prize being held in Newcastle rather than London, according to BBC News as cited on Wikipedia. The people behind the deal gave their own reasons, as reported by Sony Music UK:

  • Sony Music UK Jason Iley said the move would "invigorate the show" and build on the BRITs' history of celebrating world-class music

  • Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham called it a "massive coup for Greater Manchester", pointing to the region's music heritage and its support for new artists

  • Manchester City Council Leader Bev Craig credited a partnership between the BPI, Co-op Live, Sony Music and local businesses, and said she hoped it would lead to a long-term relationship

  • Oak View Group Tim Leiweke, whose company is behind Co-op Live, described Manchester as one of the UK's strongest emerging markets for business, music and culture

The move was also backed by Manchester Accommodation BID, Manchester City Council, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and other city partners.

When the 2027 date was confirmed, BPI chief executive Dr Jo Twist OBE said Manchester had "truly welcomed and embraced us with open arms", and Bev Craig said the council was ready to help make 2027 "the biggest year yet for The BRITs!" Nothing has been announced about where the show goes after 2027, when the two-year deal ends.

A city-wide event

  • BRITs Week for War Child Gigs supporting the charity, including sold-out shows by Olivia Dean at the Albert Hall and Robbie Williams at Aviva Studios

  • Watch parties Bars, venues and businesses across the city centre were invited to host live watch parties, with a toolkit that included posters, drinks mats, a pub quiz and trophy face masks

Even the trophy was local. It was designed by Matthew Williamson and drew on Manchester and the city's worker bee symbol.

How many people watched the BRITs 2026

How many people watched the BRITs 2026

The BPI says the first Manchester show had the biggest reach in the awards' history. Its figures, and those reported later by Music Week, use different time windows, so they should not be added together.

On TV and streaming

  • ITV audience ITV's coverage reached 6.3 million viewers over seven days across its linear channels, YouTube and ITVX, according to Music Week

  • Young viewers The BPI says the show took a 49% share of the 16 to 34 audience watching TV in its slot, the highest peak share for any commercial programme in 2026 at that point

  • ITVX Streams reached 2.3 million, up 78% on the year before

  • Outside the UK The BRITs' YouTube livestream reached one million views over 24 hours, up 135% on 2025, with viewers in the US, Mexico, Brazil and elsewhere

On social media

In the 48 hours after the show, BRITs video content drew over 250 million organic views, up 275% on 2025, the BPI reported. Instagram alone accounted for 162 million of those, up from 32.4 million, and the account posted more than 220 times, double its 2025 output.

Over the seven days after the show, Music Week reported 423 million views on the BRITs' own channels, up 70% from 249 million. Counting performance clips on artists' own channels, social content from the night reached 506 million views. Instagram views rose from 74 million to 242 million, and the official account passed one million followers.

Some of the biggest moments were artist performances shared across both the BRITs' and the artists' accounts. Music Week reported over 70 million views for Harry Styles' live debut of "Aperture", over 80 million for Rosalía's performance and over 40 million for Olivia Dean's performance content.

Which brands are part of the BRIT Awards

Which brands are part of the BRIT Awards

The BRITs carry a small set of official partners, and they are named in the BPI's own release after the 2026 show:

  • Mastercard Headline sponsor, in its 29th year. The show's full name is The BRIT Awards with Mastercard, and the brand's name sits on awards such as Album of the Year

  • ITV Official broadcaster for its 34th year, with STV, ITVX and STV Player also showing the ceremony

  • Meta Digital partner across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp

  • WhatsApp Ran the public votes for Song of the Year and International Song of the Year

  • YouTube and Neutrogena Also named as partners

The BRITs' digital campaign was produced with Cold Glass Productions. The BPI described it as social-first, with premium arrival videos of Harry Styles, Olivia Dean and ROSÉ, and coverage from every angle of the red carpet. For the first time, the red carpet was also hosted live on the BRITs' official social channels, by Charley Marlowe and Tyler West.

Proceeds from the show go to The BRIT Trust, which funds music education and wellbeing charities including The BRIT School and Nordoff and Robbins.

What the BRITs in Manchester mean for music talent and creators

What the BRITs in Manchester mean for music talent and creators

The BRITs are a TV show, but the 2026 numbers make clear that most of the audience now meets them in clips, on phones, in the days after the night. That matters for anyone whose work sits around music: artists, presenters, creators, stylists and models.

The night moves charts

Official Charts figures quoted by the BPI showed what a BRITs moment can do. Rosalía's album Lux rose 583% in the week after the show, to a new entry at 18. Geese's Getting Killed rose 177%, and Lola Young's "Messy" climbed from 81 to 67. A performance or a win is followed by a measurable bump in listening.

Content is made by more than the artists

The red carpet was hosted on social by two presenters, the BRITs' own Instagram posted more than 220 times in 48 hours, and a content agency produced the digital campaign. Around the arena, the 2026 programme ran gigs, a fringe, an art trail and watch parties across the city. All of that needs people on camera and behind it.

For talent, a few practical points:

  • Plan around the week, not just the night BRITs Week gigs, the Fringe and watch parties ran in the run-up. If you create or perform in Manchester, that week is when the city is busiest with music content

  • Know who owns what The official partners and the BRITs' own channels hold the rights to the ceremony itself. Commentary, reaction and city content are open to everyone, but footage from the broadcast is not yours to repost

  • Label paid work If a brand pays or gifts you for BRITs-themed content, it is an ad and needs a clear label. Our Black Friday booking guide sets out the UK and US rules

  • Get your numbers ready Brands planning around a big cultural night will ask about your audience. Our creator management team helps talent prepare that before the brief arrives

If you are an artist, presenter or creator looking for representation, you can apply as talent.

How brands can plan content around BRIT Awards night

How brands can plan content around BRIT Awards night

Only a handful of brands are official BRITs partners. Every other brand can still talk about music, British artists and Manchester on the night, as long as it does not suggest an official link it does not have. Unless you hold a partnership, keep the BRITs' logos, trophy images and broadcast footage out of your content.

What the 2026 show suggests for everyone else:

  • The audience is young and on social A 49% share of 16 to 34 viewers in the slot, and Instagram views that rose more than threefold in a year, point to short-form video as the place to be

  • Manchester was part of the story The city ran watch parties, an art trail and a fringe. Brands with a presence in Greater Manchester have a local hook that did not exist when the show was in London

  • Timing runs over a week BRITs Week gigs, nominations and the night itself give several moments, not one

  • Book early Creators, presenters and hosts who suit a music night will be in demand in late February. Brief well ahead, and agree usage and posting dates before the shoot

Our creator and talent campaigns team can match you with talent who fit the moment, and our event production team plans launches and watch parties. If you want content you can use on your own channels, see our guide to UGC for brands. For press around the date, our brand PR team can help. With the 2027 date four and a half months away, now is a sensible time to get in touch.
